How Heating Systems Work
Below is a list of the premium quality heating systems and products that have been proven to deliver the reliability, efficiency, and value you expect and deserve. Just click on any picture to read a full description.
Indirect Fired Water Heater
These boilers generate heated water that is then circulated to the indirect water tank. The water circulates around the inner tank transferring heat to the water being held on the inner tank. The circulated water then returns to the boiler to be reheated. Once tank is brought back up to temperature the boiler is able to shut off and not maintaining temperature in the boiler makes the system more efficient with less fuel usage.
Direct Fired Water Heater
The water tank has an oil burner directly mounted to it that burns oil in a heat exchanger at the base of the water tank that then transfers that heat to the water being stored in the tank. The burner then maintains water temperature at the desired temperature.
Hydro Air Heating Systems
Hydro Air heat utilizes an oil-fired boiler to create hot water that is then circulated through a Hydro Air Handlers Water Coil. The air handler circulates air across the hot water coil warming the air and distributing it through a centralized ductwork system. These systems may contain multiple air handlers for enhanced zoning. Benefits of a hydro air system are that you can incorporate a number of forms of heat off the boiler, including radiant, forced hot water baseboard, Modine Blower Units and indirect water heaters for the domestic hot water needs. Other advantages of hydro air are you can add central air conditioning, humidification, dehumidification, whole-house air cleaners and energy recovery systems. Very versatile and expandable.
Radiant Heat
Radiant heat utilizes an oil-fired boiler to create hot water that is circulated through manifold zone controls. The water then circulates at preset temperatures through tubing located under the floor or buried in the concrete floors. The heated floors then radiate heat to objects that are in contact with it and your body as you stand on it. Maintains an even heat at a ground level.
- Clean (for benefit of people with allergies)
- Quiet
- Comfortable (heats the objects not the air)
- Efficient (utilizes lower water temperatures)
- Lets you feel comfortable at air temperature lower than those required for convective systems
- Zoning is easier to achieve
- Decorating freedom with no forced hot water baseboards on the base of walls
- Expandable system may have forced hot water baseboard incorporated with it as well as indirect water heater for domestic hot water and hydronic blower units for garage/workshops
Forced Hot Air
Oil-fired furnace utilizes centralized ductwork system to distribute air that is heated by the blower in the furnace. System can be easily expanded to provide air conditioning, humidification and air filtration throughout the house.
- Can accommodate central air conditioning
- Humidifiers can be added to system easily for humidification
- Whole-house air cleaners can be incorporated
- Zoning can be accomplished using motorized dampers
- Excellent short term recovery-takes very little time to heat up home
Forced Hot Water
Oil-fired boiler creates heated water that is circulated through finned baseboard element located throughout the home. The transfer of heat occurs through air passing over the finned baseboard elements. Boiler can also be used to create domestic hot water through tankless coils or indirect water heaters.
- Heats living space evenly
- Operates quietly
- Easy to zone with multiple zones
- Allows use of indirect water heater (versus tankless coil) for domestic water heater
- Radiant heat may be incorporated into system
- Hydronic blower units may be installed in garages or basement workshops
- Efficient
